Yankees’ All Star first Baseman Mark Teixeira is out for the rest of the season. Team officials informed this Wednesday that team physicians determined the torn tendon sheath didn’t heal adequately and the player will need surgery to fix the problem. Recovery time for the surgery is expected to be up to six months. So, sportsbook betting fans, be prepared.
The 33-year old first base and two-time All-Star suffered the injury while hitting off a tee March 5th with the U.S. team at the World Baseball Classic. Teixeira missed 53 games of the regular season, but was able to return to the field on May 31st. He then played in 15 games, batting .151 with three home runs and 12 RBIs, but was shut down again on June15 because of inflammation. He went back on the disabled list after he didn’t respond to a cortisone treatment.
Currently sit in second place in the AL East division, the Yankees have dealing with an unusual amount of injuries this season. Teixeira is one of several stars players moved to the Yankees’ disabled list, but the first to be officially ruled out this season. Derek Jeter hasn't played with the team since suffering a left ankle fracture in the AL championship series opener held in October, 2012. Jeter returned to the field but reinjured his ankle in April during rehabilitation. Third baseman Alex Rodriguez had left hip surgery early this year and is not expected to return before the All-Star break.
Last week, the Yankees announced that 34-year old pitcher Kevin Youkilis, who was traded from Boston to New York during the offseason, will miss 10-12 weeks following back surgery. Youkilis already missed a month with a back issue earlier this season and has been on the Disabled List at least once in each of the last three years.
Outfielder Curtis Granderson was ruled out due to a broken right forearm sustained in his first at-bat at spring training on Feb. 25. After missing the first 38 games of the current season, Granderson returned on May 14th but broke a knuckle when hit by a pitch from Tampa Bay's Cesar Ramos on May 24. Finally, Catcher Francisco Cervelli was also reported out after breaking his right hand April 26 when hit by a foul tip off the bat of Toronto's Rajai Davis.
Yankees will play the Rangers in the third and last game of the series held at Yankee Stadium. After losing the second game of the series on Wednesday night, the team enters Thursday game as a +1.5 underdog according to the latest odds on MLB.

Venus Williams Withdrawals from Wimbledon due Back Injury
The 2013 Wimbledon Championships won’t count with one of its most popular players and five-time champion: Venus Williams. The 33-year old player, who hasn’t missed a tournament since her debut in 1997, announced her withdrawal on Tuesday due a back injury.
This will be only the third Grand Slam event in the last decade that Williams misses, having previously outing from the 2011 French Open and the 2012 Australian Open. But despite Venus’ withdrawn, sportsbettors and tennis fans looking for the latest Wimbledon Odds can still visit Sportsbettingonline.ag and get some tennis action before the tournament kicks off.
Williams has struggled with back problems since last year, but the problem became more evident in early April when she was forced to pull out of Madrid. More recently, Venus was eliminated from the French Open when she suffered a first-round defeat to Poland's Urszula Radwanska. Williams, who said her back troubled her during the match, also pulled out of the doubles with her sister Serena to let her back heal.
The injury became an issue in recent weeks; in fact, the seven-time Grand Slam Champion was forced out from the 2013 Miami Masters in the third round due to a lower back pain.
“Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in Wimbledon this year. I am extremely disappointed, as I have always loved the Championships, but I need to take time to let my back heal. I look forward to returning to the courts as soon as possible” wrote the five-time Wimbledon champion in a statement posted on her Facebook page.
Currently ranked No. 34, Williams has won five Wimbledon singles titles, in 2000-1, 2005 and 2007-8. Venus also lost three times in the final to her younger sister Serena. Ranked No. 1, Serena is the top favorite to win her sixth Wimbledon title and 17th major title in her career. Serena has won 31 matches in a row, the longest single-season streak in the tennis world since Venus put together a 35-match run in 2000.

NBA Betting: Pacers and Heat Meet in Decisive Game 7
Date/Time: Mon, Jun 3 / 08:35:00 PM ET, American Airlines
Arena, Miami, Florida
Time for the biggest game in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Game seven is here, and both the Heat and the Pacers are ready to clash in a
final and decisive battle for a ticket to the 2013 NBA Finals.
For the reigning NBA champs, the Miami Heat, the game
represents a chance to move into the finals for the third straight year and win
the first back-to-back title in franchise history. But after three losses to Indiana in the
Conference Finals, questions surrounding the team’s performance and ability to
retain the title have emerged over the last days. The Heat, who finished the regular season 37-2,
has been tagged as one of the biggest favorite to win the NBA title since
Jordan’s Bulls, but after sweeping the Bucks 4-0 and eliminating the Bulls 4-1
in the early stages of the 2013 NBA Playoffs, the team has faced some
complications against the Pacers.
Now the Heat, who many thought would have an easy road to
their second NBA Championship, have to face a team with no fear and nothing to
lose, and whose youth seems to be thriving when the most is at stake. For the Pacers, it's a chance to get into the
books as one of the biggest upsets in NBA history, and move to their first NBA
final since 2000. But what are their chances of capping the Conference Finals
with an upset over the Heat? While many
see this as an impossible task, the Pacers have proven they have what it takes
to keep Miami under control, losing the opening game of the series against
Miami by 1 point, and handling the Heat a home defeat in the second game at the
American Airlines Arena.
The team also knows how to manage the pressure and take
advantage of Miami’s weaknesses. Facing elimination, the Indiana
Pacers defeated the Heat, 91-77, Saturday in Game 6 of the Eastern
Conference finals. Fresh from Saturday’s win on Game 6, the overconfident Indiana
Pacers will try to hand the Heat back-to-back losses for the first time since
early January, when the team fell to the Pacers and the Portland Trail
Blazers.
