Time for the biggest game in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Game seven is here, and both the Heat and the Pacers are ready to clash in a
final and decisive battle for a ticket to the 2013 NBA Finals.
For the reigning NBA champs, the Miami Heat, the game
represents a chance to move into the finals for the third straight year and win
the first back-to-back title in franchise history. But after three losses to Indiana in the
Conference Finals, questions surrounding the team’s performance and ability to
retain the title have emerged over the last days. The Heat, who finished the regular season 37-2,
has been tagged as one of the biggest favorite to win the NBA title since
Jordan’s Bulls, but after sweeping the Bucks 4-0 and eliminating the Bulls 4-1
in the early stages of the 2013 NBA Playoffs, the team has faced some
complications against the Pacers.
Now the Heat, who many thought would have an easy road to
their second NBA Championship, have to face a team with no fear and nothing to
lose, and whose youth seems to be thriving when the most is at stake. For the Pacers, it's a chance to get into the
books as one of the biggest upsets in NBA history, and move to their first NBA
final since 2000. But what are their chances of capping the Conference Finals
with an upset over the Heat? While many
see this as an impossible task, the Pacers have proven they have what it takes
to keep Miami under control, losing the opening game of the series against
Miami by 1 point, and handling the Heat a home defeat in the second game at the
American Airlines Arena.
The team also knows how to manage the pressure and take
advantage of Miami’s weaknesses. Facing elimination, the Indiana
Pacers defeated the Heat, 91-77, Saturday in Game 6 of the Eastern
Conference finals. Fresh from Saturday’s win on Game 6, the overconfident Indiana
Pacers will try to hand the Heat back-to-back losses for the first time since
early January, when the team fell to the Pacers and the Portland Trail
Blazers.
