Seattle played their first two preseason games with former Packers QB Matt Flynn. The former Green Bay Packers’ quarterback was expected to start only in the first preseason game, but Carroll wanted to further evaluate him and hence he gave Flynn another start.
The decision to use Wilson as starter is a clear signal he has what it’s needed to impress Coach Pete Carroll. In his previous games, Wilson proved he can move the ball and organize the offense just as he did in the second half of the two preseason victories against Tennessee and Denver.
“It’s just exciting to watch this kid play. His ability to make first downs, sometimes throwing the football and sometimes with his legs, has been obvious.” Carroll said of Wilson on the team’s official website
Another player who will make his preseason debut on Friday night against Kansas City is wide Receiver Sidney Rice, who was placed on injured reserve on November 30, 2011. Rice suffered a series of concussion problems last year and only played in nine games.
For the Chiefs, the attention will be focused on wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, who waited until last week to sign his franchise tender and report to camp.
Game Odds:
Seattle Seahawks: -2.5-110
Kansas City Chiefs: +2.5-110
Game Total: 41.5, o/u -110
While the Chiefs have won 9 of the last 10 regular season games at their home stadium, the team will look for their first preseason victory over the Seahawks on Friday night.
Seahawks and Chiefs have only played in four preseason games, with Seattle claiming the victory on each of the four games. The last preseason game between the two squads was held in 2009. In that game, Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck threw two touchdown passes to lead his team to a 14-10 victory.
The last time the Seattle Seahawks visited the Arrowhead Stadium was back in November, 2010. In that game, QB Matt Cassel threw four touchdown passes -- three of those to Dwayne Bowe, and leaded his team to a solid 42-24 victory over Seattle.
