With a new racing schedule about to start at the famous Saratoga Race Course, race fans and bettors are probably wondering what betting matchups would up the ante on the excitement level and the potential for more offtrack betting profit? Read on for our picks.
Bodemeister vs. the rest of the field
Union Rags and I’ll Have Another are out of the picture. The rest of the Triple Crown horses have failed to impress. So a race in the Travers could be Bodemeister’s race to lose. The odds-on-favorite to win the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, Bodemeister disappointed racing fans with a loss at Churchill Downs and Pimlico, both by narrow, narrow margins. He was pulled out of the Belmont Stakes by trainer Bob Baffert, so we never got to see if he truly had a victory in him.
Shackleford vs. Jackson Bend
They’re by far the top two sprinters in the east, so a showdown between the two would be a dream for those who bet on horse racing. Jackson Bend couldn’t deal with Shackleford in the Met Mile, but he’s got victories in Belmont’s Carter Handicap and in the Forego and James Marvin Stakes at last summer’s Saratoga, so we can’t even begin to guess who’ll edge out.
Point of Entry vs. Musketier
Point of Entry locked down the biggest win of his career—a 3 ½ victory over Center Divider in Saturday’s Man ‘0 War Stakes at Belmont Park. We’d love to see how he’d fare against Musketier, the 10-year-old who failed to place in Sword Dancer in 2009. That said, he’s got a first and a second under his saddle in graded stakes, so this matchup could go either way.
And remember, you can bet on horse racing at Sports Betting Online and get a 10% cash back, win or lose, every single week.
